Varanasi

Varanasi is situated riverside of holy Ganga the name Varanasi comes from of the two rivers namely VARUNA and Assi, Other famous names were Anandvan, Mahashamshana but the oldest and ancient name is Kashi. It is a major religious hub in India and the holiest of the seven sacred cities (Sapta Puri) in Hinduism. The city is full of historical temples which are the major tourist attractions. One of the most important temples is Kashi Vishwanath temple which belongs to Lord Shiva and it is also one of most the famous temple form 12 Jyotirlinga. There are 80 Ghats along the banks of Ganga in Kashi, The city lies to the south of Varuna River & north of Assi River, Hence the name Varanasi.
