We are not aware of the details of the birth of the Kabir or the Kabir das, which until modern times was familiar to many saintly Indians. A devotional (bhakti) holy poet, who articulated the concept of seeing humanity as one, his name Kabir, in his songs, is also interpreted as the grace of Guru. According to legends, he was found near lake Lahara Tara, adjacent to the Holy City of Varanasi by the childless Muslim weavers named Niru and Nimma, and adopted him.

Kabir Das seems to have been born in the year 1440 and breathed his last in 1518. With no clues about his parents, his childhood revolves around being taught by his Guru Ramanand. The Bhakti movement got influenced by Kabirdas, India’s great poet and saint. Even “Kabir” in Islam means “Great.” By writing his dohas, he set an example for many out there. Still today, people are reciting and teaching the dohas at all academic levels.There is a religious community called Kabir Panth which follows Kabir and preaches him because he created ‘Sant Math sects.’ The culture is known as Kabir Panthis, and it gets distributed across India. Sakhi Granth, Kabir Granthawali, etc. are some of the writings of Kabir. Kabir Das Jayanti takes place on various dates every year. Its also believed to be the birthday of Kabir.

All life is an interplay of two spiritual concepts, according to Kabir. The one is the soul (Paramatma), while the other is God. Kabir believes that salvation is how these two godly principles got brought together. Kabir ‘s philosophy has been expressed socially and adequately over the ages. It was a fusion of the ideas of Hindu and Muslim people. The concepts of reincarnation and the law of karma he embraces from Hinduism.
